Multisport: Mason to Host 2006 ITU World Cup Duathlon

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 19, 2005):

USA Triathlon has announced that Mason, Ohio will host one race in the 2006 International Triathlon Union's (ITU) Duathlon World Series. The race will be held on May 6 in conjunction with the National Age Group Duathlon Championship that will be held on May 7. >P>"Last year's race was a great success and received unparalleled support from the athletes and community alike. The courses for both the age group and elite athletes were fantastic and we look forward to returning to Mason in 2006," said USAT National Events Director Jeff Dyrek."This event will be produced by USA Triathlon in conjunction with the Warren County Convention and Visitors Bureau."

The race will consist of a 10k run, a 40k bike and a 5k run and will serve as the qualifier for the 2006 ITU World Age Group Championship July 30-31in Corner Brook, Canada.

"Mason is a great site for the event," said USAT Executive Director Skip Gilbert. "USA Triathlon is now focused on making this event the best possible championship and will give the town some international exposure."
