Fuhr And Lessing Go With Ironman Helmets

Heather Fuhr made her decision in a wind tunnel in San Diego. Simon Lessing made his decision on the bike course at Ironman Canada. The decision they made is to race and endorse Ironman brand bicycle helmets.

“I was asked to test an unbranded helmet during our August time in the Allied Aerospace low speed wind tunnel,” said Fuhr. “The “brand X” helmet, as we dubbed it, tested out very competitively among all helmets tested, including the helmet I raced all year. During the testing I noticed that the helmet was very light and fit me better than any other helmet tested due to its Sure FitTM 360 degree retention system. I was pleased to learn that the “brand X” helmet was the new Ironman Pro Series helmet brand. I look forward to racing this helmet in up-coming Ironman races.”

“Just like everyone else, I want a helmet that is fast, light, cool, protective, and fits comfortably,” said Lessing. “I tested the new Ironman Pro Series helmet at Ironman Canada and was impressed. The helmet is light and the Sure FitTM 360 degree retention system creates a functional and safe fit. On the long climb up Richter Pass, I noticed that the helmet ventilated well and I wasn’t overheating. I also like the fact that the helmet has ReflectekTM reflective technology to keep me safe during my training rides. Based on this experience, I’m racing in Kona next month with an Ironman Pro Series Helmet on my head.”

Tyson Kennedy – Nice To Meet You!

Lori Bowden gave birth to a son on Friday, September 16th. Her announcement read as follows:

“He's finally here...Tyson Kennedy! 7lbs 9oz, 22" long....long and lean basketball playing machine, long hands and feet,...a real cutie!”

Mother and son are healthy and very happy. Lori hopes to return to racing as soon as possible but, of course, is taking it all one step at a time.

Kate Major Engaged

Kate Major popped the BIG question and he said “YES!”. Kate and long-time beau, Jeff Young, are engaged to be married next year. Chris Legh’s Barnstorming Tour

With his full-distance Ironman ambitions temporarily on hold pending resolution of a medical condition, Chris Legh just completed a barnstorming tour of the U.S. racing all-comers at any half-ironman distance race, any time, any place. The result of each race fits neatly into the same template: ‘Chris lagged behind the leaders on the swim, smoked the field on the bike, and won easily with a new course record on the strength of the day’s fastest run.’

Three-Time Ironman World Champion, Peter Reid, has struck his pre-Ironman Kona boot camp and returned home to Victoria, Canada. All indications are that, despite his slow year due to the severe virus contracted in April, Peter is race-ready for Kona. What It Takes, The Movie, Nearing Its Climax

"What It Takes", the movie, follows Peter Reid, Heather Fuhr, Luke Bell and Lori Bowden for a year, as they prepare for next month’s Ironman World Championships. Filming started in November, 2004 and has followed these athletes at home and on the road for a full-year. Viewers can expect to go “behind the scenes for a year as these elite competitors train, race, rest, and experience the ups and downs of life, all on the path to the 2005 [Ironman] world championships.”

"What It Takes" will debut globally in 2006, through 3 possible distribution channels:

Heather Fuhr Featured In Ford Ironman Sweepstakes Ads

Heather Fuhr will be featured in advertising for a Sweepstakes sponsored by Ford Explorer, Timex and Glamour Magazine. The ads include a 2-page advertorial spread in Glamour beginning in the January issue. The sweepstakes will also be promoted nationally on the sponsors’ web sites. Prizes are a limited edition Timex Ironman watches in special Ford Explorer colors.
