Posted: September 30, 2005 Athletics: World Half-Marathon Looking Wet & Cold From David Monti © 2005 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com EDMONTON (30-Sep) -- While skies are bright and sunny now with pleasant temperatures, forcasters are expecting a turn for the worse tonight making tomorrow's 14th IAAF World Half-Marathon Championships a potentially wet and chilly affair. Rain is expected throughout the day accompanied by temperatatures in the range of 9°C (48°F) at race time in the late morning and early afternoon. One race official was optimistic that the weather would not be as bad as originally forcast; at first blush it looked to be even colder. The course is 4.5 loops begining and ending in Hawrelak Park. Times were already expected to be a bit slow because Edmonton is situated at about 1000m of altitide. The rain and cold should only serve to make them slower. The men's race begins at 11:30 and the women go of at 13:30. Comment on this story. |
