Posted: October 4, 2005 Multisport: Sports Engine USA launches MOTORTABS™ electrolyte replacement drink TUSTIN, CA (September 28, 2005) – Start-up sports nutrition enterprise Sports Engine USA, Inc. has entered the sports drink market, launching its flagship product, MOTORTABS™, effervescent electrolyte/energy tablets which dissolve when dropped in water and become a sports drink. Designed for multi-sport and other endurance athletes, each 20 gram tablet delivers 250 milligrams of sodium, 75 milligrams of potassium, 16 grams of carbohydrate (dextrose, sucrose and maltodextrin). There’s no need to shake the bottle, and a tablet’s thorough dissolution takes just a few minutes. “While many sports drink companies provide guidelines that are unrealistic in terms of electrolyte levels, sports nutritionists know that each athlete has different requirements.” said Ronald Mendel, PhD, Sports Engine USA’s vice president of scientific affairs. “We provide our consumers with basic usage guidelines and encourage them to experiment until they arrive at their optimal tablet-water combination.” Athletes might choose to use one, one-and-a-half, or two tabs per 20 fluid ounces of water, depending on their individual fluid intake requirements, taste preference and sweat loss rates. It’s an on-the-go sports drink that athletes can take virtually anywhere they can find water. Air-tight, waterproof, individual packaging makes it easy to take MOTORTABS on training rides and runs for easy bottle refilling as needed. With no residual settling, cleaning bottles and hydration systems is quick and easy, too. Sports Engine USA conducted two years of “real world” testing to arrive at the final formulation, enlisting athletes from the highest levels to weekend warriors. One of the testers, professional triathlete Michellie Jones, signed on as the MOTORTABS first endorser. “I tried the tabs a few times during training and was completely hooked,” Jones said. “Of course, I like the taste and ingredient profile, but for me it is just so simple to throw a couple of tabs in my pocket and head out for a five-hour ride. I just have to get water and drop the tabs in, and I’m ready to keep going.” Domestic pro road cyclist Jason Bausch, top age-group triathlete Shelby Sheffield, and masters road racer Richard Meeker (AMD/Discovery Masters) have also signed on to endorse the brand. Sports Engine USA’s president, Greg Sellers, said the company will support other age-groupers and multi-sport coaches from around the country, too. “Events will also be integral to the brand’s marketing platform,” noted Sellers, who is currently reviewing Florida event calendars to schedule sampling promotions over the coming months. Next Spring will also be a heavy sampling season. “We want athletes to drop MOTORTABS into every bottle they fill, and a few extra tabs into their jersey pockets for long rides and runs. We’re in it for the long-haul, too.” About Sports Engine USA
