Posted: October 5, 2005 Multisport: Aquathlon kicks off Age Group World Championships in Hawaii A strong contingent of 31 Canadian athletes braved the hot, humid tropical climate of Honolulu today for the 2005 Age Group Aquathlon World Championships. Despite the challenging race conditions, Canadian athletes toed the start line and blasted off in a flurry of international competition that included the finest athletes from every corner of the world. The first run leg was attacked with great vigor which was carried in to the turbulent waters of the Pacific Ocean. Braving three foot swells that were once no more than a foot high in the morning, the athletes made clear sailing through the 750 m swim before making their way out to the second run leg. With every bit of energy and drive as at the first run leg, all Canadian athletes made their way through the 2.6 km course finish the race with a spring in their step and a smile on their face. The Canadian team will now set their sights on the triathlon on Sunday, October 4th. Comment on this story. |
