Triathlon: PCH News -- Legh, Reid & Major Xterra Results

Legh 5th At XTERRA World Championships - Reid & Major Win The Double

Chris Legh dusted off his mountain bike for the second time this year and pedaled it to a very impressive 5th place at the Xterra World Championships on Maui yesterday. In his first off-road adventure, Legh placed 7th at the Xterra USA Championships three weeks ago. Legh’s race featured the day’s second fastest run. Legh’s successful 2005 race season concludes next weekend at the Soma Triathlon in Tempe, Arizona where he’ll be back on his road bike and looking to extend his four-race winning streak at the half Ironman distance.

Peter Reid and Kate Major won Xterra’s “Double” championship that combines times from last weekend’s Ford Ironman Triathlon World Championship and the Xterra World Championship. This was Reid’s fourth Double in a row and sixth title in seven years. His combined time of 11:10:09 was 9:16 better than Cam Widoff. Major, in her first-ever Xterra race, won her Double over Katja Schumacher by a much wider margin.

Xterra World Championships will air Super Bowl Sunday, February 5, 2006, at 12 noon EST.
