Posted: November 3, 2005 Multisport: Texas to Host Long Distance Du Nationals COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 2, 2005) – USA Triathlon has announced that Grand Prairie, Texas will host the 2006 Long Course Duathlon National Championships on April 23 as part of the 14th Annual Metroplex Du-2-Du. Race director Jack Weiss and his team at Ironhead Race Productions will produce the event in conjunction with USA Triathlon. “It has been almost 10 years since the Duathlon National Championship was in Grand Prairie. We look forward to returning and we are certain that Jack Weiss and his team will put on a great event,” said USA Triathlon Team USA and Duathlon Coordinator Troy Stiles. The race will consist of a 8k run, a 61k bike and an 8k run and will serve as the main qualifier for the 2006 ITU Long Course Duathlon World Age Group Championship on May 28 in Fredericia, Denmark. “Grand Prairie is a great site for the event,” said USAT Executive Director Skip Gilbert. “Ironhead Race Productions and USA Triathlon will focus on making this event the best possible championship and giving the town national exposure.” More information this event is available at www.ironheadrp.com.
