Triathlon: Philadelphia Insurance Companies give donation to victims of Hurricane Katrina

BOULDER, Colo.—Philadelphia Insurance recently partnered with the America Red Cross at the 2005 Ford Ironman Florida held on Nov. 5 in Panama City Beach, Fla., to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Philadelphia Insurance Companies CEO, James J. Maguire Jr.; and seven other employees including: Executive Vice President & Chief Underwriting Officer, Chris Maguire; Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer, Sean Sweeney; Senior Regional Vice President Sunbelt Region, Tim Maguire; Senior Regional Vice President South East Region, Bryan Hughes; Vice President Operations, Debbie Sutton; Vice President of Claims, Cynthia Lasprogata; and Account Representative, Brandon Cole; competed in the seventh annual event. Philadelphia Insurance Companies launched a company-wide fundraiser asking for a pledge of $10 for each mile in the 140.6-mile race. The company raised a total of $48,173.

“We feel a strong sense of responsibility to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and our prayers go out to those affected by this terrible tragedy,” Jamie Maguire said. “Our employees have already begun to help and the Company has agreed to match donations up to a specified amount.”

Philadelphia Insurance is the official insurer of GTG, the official governing body of all Ironman sanctioned events, and also sponsors the Philadelphia Insurance Awards Banquet at all full-distance Ironman events in the United States.
