Commonwealth Games: No Sweat As Melbourne 2006 Welcomes Rexona Under Their Wing

Australia’s number one deodorant brand, Rexona, was today announced as an Official Provider for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games – supplying deodorant products for the Australian team.

As the leading anti-perspirant from the stables of Unilever Australasia, Rexona already boasts a strong sporting heritage, having worked with a number of high-profile Australian athletes in the past.

Unilever Australasia’s Chairman, Mr Peter Slator, said they were delighted to be supporting the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

“This partnership is a natural fit for the Rexona brand, having previously supported some of Australia’s greatest Commonwealth Games’ athletes such as Robert DeCastella and Jane Flemming,” Mr Slator said.

As an Official Provider for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, all Australian athletes will receive Rexona anti-perspirant deodorant packs, keeping them cool under pressure with Rexona’s unbeatable protection against wetness and odour.

Rexona Group Brand Manager, Mr Nathan Low, commented, “With Rexona’s commitment to performance excellence, Australian athletes at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games can be confident that Rexona won’t let them down when they need it most.”

Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Chief Executive Officer, Mr John Harnden, was equally delighted with the addition of Rexona to the Games’ Sponsor Family.

“Rexona was a fitting choice and Unilever has always been a great supporter of sport in this country, we warmly welcome them onboard,” Mr Harnden said.

The Games will be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness 4500 elite athletes from 71 nations taking part in the XVIII Commonwealth Games to be held from 15-26 March 2006. For further information on the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, go to www.melbourne2006.com.au www.melbourne2006.com.au.
