Athletics: Registration Open for 8th Flying Pig Marathon

Start Time Changes for Sunday Marathon

CINCINNATI, Ohio - (November 14, 2005) - Registration, both on-line and in the mail, is now open for the eighth annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, to be held Sunday, May 7, 2006. While the course remains the same for 2006, the starting time for the Marathon has changed to 6:00am for walkers and runners, full marathon, half-marathon and relay participants.

"Walkers are such a big part of our Marathon, we wanted to include them in the start with the main Marathon field," said Iris Simpson-Bush, executive director. "Instead of having an early start, as we have in the past, everyone will start at the same time, and we will keep the course open longer."

The marathon finish line will stay open for nine hours, until 3:00pm. Participants are expected to keep a 20 minute per mile pace.

Registration forms for the Marathon already have been mailed out, or registrants can go on line at FlyingPigMarathon.com and click on the "registration" tab. The discounted early registration price is $55, effective until January 20, 2006.

The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend begins Friday, May 5 with the Health and Fitness Expo at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, Covington, Kentucky. Saturday, May 6, begins with the Flying Pig 10K, the Flying Pig 5K and the Flying Piglet Kids' Fun Run. Sunday's Marathon begins at 6:00am, with the wheelchair division starting at 5:55am.

The eighth annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon will be held Sunday, May 7 with the Flying Pig Marathon, Half Marathon presented by National City, the Ernst & Young Relay (4-person) and the Corporate Express Corporate Challenge Relay. Presenting sponsors are CoActive Marketing, Corporate Express, Ernst & Young, Mercy Health Partners, National City and Paycor.
