Triathlon: Dave Scott Announces Spring Training Camp in Kona Hawaii

Boulder CO—Dave Scott, six-time Ironman World Champion and the world’s most recognized triathlete and coach, and partner Velo Echappé International Sports, a worldwide leader and pioneer in luxury cycling and triathlon vacations, will host the first annual Dave Scott Super Training Camp in Kona , Hawaii during the week of February 18-24, 2006.

“Kona seemed to be the logical location for a vacation and training package of this nature,” says Brian Rounds, founder and International Director of Velo Echappé. He continues, “There is no other place with so much triathlon history and significance. Since 1981, thousands of athletes have traveled to Kona to accomplish their dreams and along the way have inspired so many others to do the same. To be in Kona and to train with someone like Dave Scott, the man who virtually defined what it is to become an “Ironman” is truly a special and unique once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Located in one of the most beautiful natural settings in the world, the Dave Scott Super Training Camp will be centered around the Ironman World Championships race course. Each day, athletes will be treated to race-specific training instruction such as open water swimming, cycling on the famous Queen K Highway, and running on Ali’i Drive. In addition to these daily workouts, the vacation package will also feature informative lectures lead by Dave Scott on topics such as training strategies that progress through the training cycles of recovery, preparation, pre-competitive and competitive season; nutritional planning for an athlete’s lifestyle as well as for training and racing; and strength and stretch instructions designed to keep athletes injury free throughout the year. This vacation isn’t all work. In addition to all the great training, instruction, and personal time with “The Man,” the vacation package will also feature luxury accommodations at the Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort located directly on Ali’i Drive, plus all breakfasts and dinners, transfers, professional sag and mechanical support, sponsor “goodies”, triathlon gear, and a presentation of Dave’s amazing success in the world of triathlon.

This is truly a unique and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to train with and get to know one of the sport’s greatest athletes and the first 6-time Ironman World Champion.

“Brian and his team at Velo Echappé are top-notch. Their success with cycling vacations in France and Italy has garnered them an excellent reputation for providing outstanding value and service. This was a key element in my decision to go forward with this plan.” Says Dave Scott of partner Brian Rounds at Velo Echappé. “I want this training camp to be an unforgettable vacation experience for these athletes—something that combines training, instruction and fun. This is exactly what we are going to deliver.”

Details of the Dave Scott Super Training Camp are available at www.DaveScottinc.com and www.VeloEchappe.com. Space is limited to 25 athletes.
