Highlights for December include:

    • Almost forty thousand left the starting line in Staten Island in the 36th running of the ING New York City Marathon and the overall win came down to the final yard.
        With the largest purse ever for a women’s marathon on the line, the world’s best take off the gloves in the final miles and only one is left standing on the top step of the podium.
          The ING New York City Marathon race week is much more than 26.2 miles of running:
          - The Poland Springs Marathon Kickoff;
          - The Health and Fitness Expo, presented by Q104.3 FM;
          - The Continental Airlines International Friendship Run, with a special appearance by Olympic marathon champion Mizuki Noguchi of Japan;
          - And the Barilla PLUS Marathon Eve Dinner;
          - The High School Invitational presented by Road Runner High Speed Online;
          - Then, of course, the five borough extravaganza.

          The New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in upper Manhattan has a full season of open, scholastic and collegiate competition ready to launch on the world’s fastest indoor track.

          Plus highlights from the boys and girls Catholic High School Cross Country Championships at Van Cortlandt in the Bronx.

          And a Michelob Ultra Great Moment in Running: German Silva’s wrong turn in the 1994 New York City Marathon led to the closest finish in race history…until this year.
