Triathlon: Announcing the new Australian Triathlon Series!

One Series, One Sport, One Purpose! - The new Australian Triathlon Series!

Triathlon Australia is proud to announce the introduction of the brand new Australian Triathlon Series (ATS)! Triathlon Australia has been working closely with all Race Directors involved to ensure that this year?s series provides the Australian Triathlon Community with some of the best quality racing opportunities on offer in Australia.

The ATS events will also serve as the official selection events for those athletes intending to qualify to represent Australia at the 2006 World Triathlon Championships, Lausanne, Switzerland. So for any athlete across the Elite or Age Group categories wishing to go to Switzerland competing in this series is a must!

The series will be officially launched in Canberra late January preceding the first race, the Canberra Capital Triathlon to be held on January 29, 2006 and will conclude with the final event the Australian Olympic Distance Championships to be held on 16 April in Geelong. Details of all ATS events are listed on the TA Event Calendar (Triathlon.org.au). Click on National Triathlon Series.

It is expected that over 7,000 entries will be received for this revamped national series with high level competition across both Age Group and Elite athletes up for Worlds selection. Competition amongst the elite fields will be hot with all six members of the Commonwealth Games squad expected to face some of their Trans Tasman and British counterparts in the lead up to the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games event to be held on 18 March, 2006.

The official ATS program will be published and distributed in the January 9, 2006 edition of Triathlon Multi Sport Magazine so make sure you get a copy! The program will provide you with comprehensive information for all ATS events. We will also keep you informed throughout the series with all the up to date series information via the TA website and the official Australian Triathlon Series Newsletter. Entries for most ATS events are now open so get organised, get ready and get into it!

An E-card detailing all official ATS event information will be forwarded to all STTA and TA members for quick reference and convenience.
