Posted: January 4, 2006 Triathlon: ePerformance Triathlon Technique & Assessment Camps, February 23 – 26 & April 27 – 30 Also, exclusive Train With the Pros camp Clermont, Fla. (January 2, 2006) If you’ve already been planning your 2006 race schedule, you should probably be building your base fitness, too. ePerformance High Performance Consultants’ (www.ePerformance.ca) long-weekend Technique & Assessment Camps, in Clermont, Fla., February 23-26, 2006, and Palmetto, Ga., April 27-30, 2006, will motivate you, improve your skills, set training benchmarks for the coming, pre-season months, and provide a fun weekend away. The training camps are open to beginning to intermediate age-group triathletes, duathletes and cyclists, who will participate in a variety of swim, bike and run potential assessment tests and then train in groups according to their abilities, all under supervision of one of ePerformance’s highly experienced coaches. The camps are limited to five athletes maximum per coach to ensure quality, personal attention throughout the weekend. Elite athletes may also join the group to help motivate the group and provide even greater personal feedback. “Age-groupers will have a lot of fun training far away from the cold weather, but more importantly, they’ll each learn how to reach their potential,” says Luc Morin, one of Canada’s top professional athletes, exercise physiologist and ePerformance’s head coach. “It’s so rewarding to see our campers come alive when they suddenly realize that they know how to improve their fitness and speed. The only piece of the puzzle left is to go home, start training and stick to their plan.” ePerformance camp coaches also include Francisca Russli, former Swiss pro triathlete and cyclist, Julien Periard, Canadian Olympic-distance coach and ITU short-course pro triathlete, and Mark Marshall, former USA elite track cyclist. The three-day program includes three coached workouts per day (swim, bike and run), two classroom seminars, Potential Assessment Evaluation (swim, bike and run), snacks, and sponsors’ goody bag. Accommodations are not included. Registration for ePerformance’s Technique & Assessment Florida camp (February 23-26, 2006), and Georgia camp (April 27-30, 2006), Technique & Assessment Camp costs, are $475.00 USD before Jan. 8, 2006, and $550.00 USD until Feb. 23, 2006, and $475.00 USD before Mar. 11, 2006, and $550.00 USD until Apr. 27, 2006, respectively. ePerformance’s triathlon training camps are sponsored by nuun, Profile Design, Polar, South Lake Bicycles, and Tifosi Optics. New camp – Train with the Pros For the fastest age-groupers looking to step up their game, make it to short- or long-course world championships or qualify for Kona, ePerformance is inviting them to Train with the Pros, February 25-March 4, 2006, in Clermont. Limited to six amateurs, the program ensures a maximum of two per pro and the highest training intensity and focus. According to Morin, the eight-day training program will include ePerformance’s pre-training Potential Assessment Evaluation, and then 17,000-25,000 meters of swimming, 700-900 kilometers of cycling, and 70-100 kilometers of running, all pre-planned and to include proper stretching and rest. The amateur-to-pro ratio also ensures that the age-groupers learn many techniques and tips to help separate them from the rest when the racing season begins. Morin, Periard and Christian Köhler (GER), an ITU long-distance and Ironman circuit athlete, have their 2006 racing goals established and expect the amateur participants to be equally focused. To be sure, says Morin, “it will be hard work and very worthwhile for the special age-groupers joining us, but it won’t be just a big, constant testosterone battle out there. Part of what separates truly professional athletes is the honesty they put into their planning and training. We remember how it felt to be elite amateurs, and we want it to make a difference for them, too.” In addition to sharing the focus and camaraderie with Morin’s crew, the $1,545.00 USD Train with the Pros camp includes a pre-camp training regimen, ePerformance cycling uniform, transportation to and from Orlando International Airport, a professional bike fit session, all training sessions, meals, seven nights’ shared accommodations, and a goody bag from sponsors nuun, Profile Design, Polar, South Lake Bicycles, and Tifosi Optics.
