Posted: January 6, 2006 Athletics: The Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon Rescheduled Due To Death Of The Ruler Of Dubai DUBAI, The United Arab Emirates (January 6, 2006) -- The Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, originally scheduled for January 6, 2006, has been postponed until February 17, 2006, due to the death of Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai. The country has declared a 7-day morning period out of respect for a beloved man responsible for planning and developing the emirate of Dubai into one of the world’s most modern cities with one of the world’s highest standards of living.
