Athletics: Masters Degree Project Looks at NCAA Scholarship Experiences

Hello Trackies,

As you are all aware, there are a number of very talented Canadian track and field athletes who enter the NCAA each year.

Not all of them keep their scholarship until graduation, for various and complex reasons. Many, however, do.

My Master's degree project asks about the experiences of Canadians who have been in the NCAA, and I am looking to interview track and field athletes about their experiences.

I am a graduate student at the Unviersity of Toronto and this research is connected to the Centre for Canadian Sport Policy Studies.

I would like to recruit men and women in any track and field discipline who have been in the NCAA to contribute their experiences to this project. Ideally, the participants have graduated from university, either from their NCAA school or after having returned to Canada after a few years in the NCAA, although this is a "loose" requirement. If anyone out there can direct potential candidates my way, or if you yourself have been in the NCAA as a track and field competitor, I would be obliged. As a former NCAA and CIS athlete myself, I understand much of the context involved in participating in both systems, and my project seeks to flesh this out some more, with the help of the experts -- those who have been there!
