Triathlon: IRONMAN France - Nice Triathlon 2006: the winners of 2005 will be on the start line in 2006

Herve FAURE (FRA) and Mariska KRAMER (NED), the winners of the first edition of the IRONMAN France - Nice Triathlon announce their presence for the second edition on June 25th.

The winners of the IRONMAN France – Nice Triathlon have registered for the second edition of the only IRONMAN race on French territory. And this year too, they are strongly decided to win the race. Herve FAURE organises his race season 2006 around Nice and Hawaii. He is already qualified for the Ford IRONMAN World Championships in October with his second place at the Half-IRONMAN Monaco Triathlon 2005. « It is not enough to plant a nail, it is necessary to push it further» he confides while showing clearly his ambitions to keep his title this year. The PRO board promises to be high level once again, and the race for such a looked-for title as winner of an IRONMAN as well as for the 50 Hawaii slots is open.

Registration is open until April, 30th – deadline for 2006. Today, athletes from 35 nations are registered, with the most important participation coming from France, followed by Great Britain, Germany and the United States. Female athletes represent about 10% of the entrants, like last year.

The swim and run circuits remain the same as in the first edition of the race on the Côte d’Azur. The bike course, however, will be modified for more comfort and security, still keeping the same level of difficulty.
