Triathlon: Herbalife Announces Three-Year Sponsorship of Top International Triathlon Events and 2012 Olympic Prospect

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 23, 2006--Following the success of its first ever major UK sponsorship deal in 2005, Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF), which provides weight-management, nutritional supplements and personal care, announces the extension of its official nutrition sponsorship of both the Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon and the Blenheim Triathlon until 2008.

To complement the sponsorship deal, Herbalife will continue to sponsor Olly Freeman, the current under-20 European Junior Triathlon Champion, World Junior Duathlon Champion and London Junior Triathlon Champion, who this year will compete at senior level for the first time. Herbalife has entered into a three year deal as the young athlete's official nutrition sponsor. As a genuine medal potential for the Olympics UK in 2012, Freeman will be featured in all marketing material surrounding both triathlons and compete as part of 'Team Herbalife.'

"The London and Blenheim Triathlons are respectively the largest and second largest triathlons in the UK and represent an ideal way for us to raise awareness of our brand and reach new audiences. Herbalife's parallel position as official nutrition sponsor of Olly Freeman makes the company the Olympic hopeful's first major sponsor. Freeman is widely positioned to do well at both the Beijing Olympics and the subsequent 2012 Olympics in London.

The Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon race weekend on August 5th-6th at Excel, Royal Victoria Dock, attracts thousands of competitors of all abilities and tens of thousands of spectators. In 2005 Herbalife was the competition's largest corporate newcomer entry with a team of more than 170 independent distributors and staff. Other sponsors include Asics, AbbeyWell water and Hilton Hotels. The Blenheim Triathlon is the second largest triathlon in the UK, and this year takes place May 20th - 21st in the grounds of Blenheim Palace. Triathlon is the UK's fastest growing sport at 10 percent per year.

Herbalife is also the official nutrition sponsor of the Nautica Malibu Triathlon, Laguna Phuket Triathlon and participated in Trofeu Brasil de Triathlon in 2005. The company also sponsors U.S. triathlete Erika Aklufi. Other major sponsorships include the AVP Pro Volleyball Tournament in the U.S. and a number of its top players, the LA Galaxy Soccer Stars, and the upcoming Tour of California.
