Posted: January 27, 2006 Athletics: Bekele Out Of Karlsruhe With Calf Injury From David Monti © 2005 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com Olympic gold medalist Kenenisa Bekele will not make his indoor 1500m debut at the LBBW Meeting meeting in Karlsruhe, Germany, on Sunday as planned. He has decided to skip the meet due to a calf injury. "He pulled out with a calf injury, is recovering well, but not in time for Karlsruhe," said his manager Jos Hermens in an e-mail message to RRW Assistant Editor, Bob Ramsak earlier today. Bekele has not withdrawn from the 99th Millrose Games, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 3 in New York City where he will face Bernard Lagat in the Wanamaker mile. This race will be Bekele's first-ever mile race, indoors or out. Comment on this story. |
