Posted: January 30, 2006 Athletics: Malibu Running Camp Opens Registration Early Bird Discount Ends February 14 MALIBU, Calif. - (January 26, 2006) - The Malibu Running Camp has opened its registration for the 2006 season. Sessions will be held July 18-23 and August 5-10, 2006, at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. The Malibu Running Camp offers personalized training for runners of all ages and ability levels in a spectacular setting. Campers learn about running-specific strengthening exercises, vVO2max training, injury-prevention techniques, and sports nutrition. Attendees also have their running form analyzed and receive expert advice on how to run more efficiently. "Our camp is a cutting-edge, transforming experience," says Owen Anderson, Ph.D., camp director. "Not only do the camp sessions educate runners on how to achieve optimal results, but the experience motivates and re-energizes them as well." The camp attendees receive personalized instruction from Dr. Anderson, an exercise physiologist, nationally-acclaimed author and editor of Running Research News. The Malibu Running Camp is located in the beautiful foothills of the picturesque Santa Monica Mountains and adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. Campers run on soft, shaded trails in the Santa Monica National Forest and on Malibu's beautiful beaches. Less than an hour's drive from downtown Los Angeles, Malibu is a short distance from many of the area's premier cultural and recreational attractions, including the Getty Villa Malibu - a newly refurbished museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome and Etruria. The six-day camp includes five-night accommodations at the Rockwell Towers Residence Hall at Pepperdine University; all meals are included. The registration fee is $895 if paid by February 14, 2006 and $995 thereafter.
