Triathlon: Zoot Sports accepting applicants for 2006 Elite Triathlon Team

Zoot Sports is currently accepting triathlon resumes from U.S. based athletes who would like to be part of its 2006 Zoot Sports Elite Triathlon Team. The team will be comprised of 20-25 athletes focused on Olympic distance and 70.3 distance races. It will be a combination of pro and amateur athletes and will launch at the 2006 California Ford 70.3 Half Ironman in Oceanside, CA.

To apply, please send a full race resume with past results, a 2006 tentative race schedule, a digital race photo, and a brief bio outlining why you would like to be part of the team to Tom Schuler at tjsplow@aol.com. To be considered, athletes must be top age group competitors, plan on racing at a minimum of six to eight events throughout 2006 (with at least three high-profile events such as Wildflower, Chicago Triathlon, the Ironman 70.3 Series or related events) and be strong brand ambassadors in their local racing/training community, promoting the Zoot Sports brand.

If you are committed to racing hard, having fun and representing Zoot Sports, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. The application deadline is Feb. 15, 2006.

Team Selection will be based on the following:

  • Prior results and/or potential ability to place at major triathlons
  • Your ability to represent and promote the Zoot Sports brand
  • Your location - we desire to have representation across major triathlon markets
  • Your 2006 race schedule, which must include major U.S. races with 500 athletes or more

The Zoot Sports Triathlon Team will be managed by Team Sports Inc., who has over a decade of experience in team management for cycling and multisport teams. Team Sports, Inc current teams include the Timex Multisports Team and the Colavita Cooking Light Women’s Pro Cycling Team.

The Zoot Sports Triathlon Team will be fully outfitted in the 2006 Zoot Sports ULTRA collection, featuring the latest innovation in race-day apparel. The ULTRA race apparel features Sunpaque 50+UPF protection, TekSheen panels for ultimate back and hip flexor support and ventilator mesh panels for the utmost comfort, support and ventilation.

The team will also be supported by a major bicycle company, footwear company and nutrition company that will provide major discounts on bicycles and free training gear and products. The actual sponsors will not be announced until final details are negotiated.

Full program details will be supplied to the athletes selected for the team. Companies who are interested in being a part of the team should contact Tom Schuler at tjsplow@aol.com or Eli Carlson at elisette@zootsports.com.
