Triathlon: Tri Without Borders Triathlon To Host 2006 “Best Of The US” Washington Qualifier

(St. Paul, MN – 2/15/2006)–– ”Best of the US” Management is pleased to announce that the inaugural TRI WITHOUT BORDERS OLYMPIC TRIATHLON will host the 2006 “Best of the US” Washington State Qualifier. The fastest male and female resident amateurs will earn the right to represent the Evergreen State at the “Best of the US Championship” in Excelsior, MN on September 16. Washington was well-represented at the 2005 Championship. Redmond’s Chris Tremonte (11th man) and Lt. Colonel Heidi Grimm, of Steilacoom (3rd woman), combined to earn 3rd Place in the “Fastest State Competition.”

The TRI WITHOUT BORDERS TRIATHLON is arguably the most unique event in the “Best of the US” program. The event, which features Olympic and sprint distance races (the Olympic race is the qualifier), starts in White Rock, British Columbia, where triathletes will swim across the international border to Semiahmoo Spit in Blaine, WA. The bike and run portions provide inspiring views of Mount Baker, US and B.C. waters, and the world class Semiahmoo Resort.. Truly a “best’ course” for the “Best of the US.” The event is directed by Jonathan Hoskins, founder/producer of the popular Grand Columbia Triathlon, which will host the 2006 ITU Pan-American Long Distance Championship. “Jonathan is one of Triathlon’s most creative and contientious event directors. The participant always comes first at his events. We couldn’t be happier that his TRI WITHOUT BORDERS is part of the “Best of the US..” progam,” says Jerry MacNeil, “Best of the US” PR Director.
