Posted: February 16, 2006 Athletics: BD's Barbeque to Add $1,000 'Prime' to BolderBOULDER 10K BOULDER, Colo. - (February 15, 2006) - A prize incentive called a prime (pronounced "prem") will be offered at BolderBOULDER this year - slated for Memorial Day, May 29. The first eligible male and female that cross the line in front of BD's Mongolian Barbeque on Pearl St. (approx. 4.6 miles into the race) will each receive a $500 prime. Billy Downs, owner of the BD Mongolian Barbeque chain of restaurants, said, "The addition of the prime will add an interesting element to the race. Runners will ask themselves if they should run as hard as possible to our restaurant to earn the prime, or do they hold back a bit to go for the win inside the stadium. Or, just maybe, there is a runner who is strong enough to hold off the pack for the prime AND the BolderBOULDER win. Strategy will play a major part in how the fastest runners race." Cliff Bosley, Race Director of BolderBOULDER, added, "When the idea of adding a prime to the race came up we jumped all over the opportunity. Ted Kennedy, who is helping us with sponsorship sales, met with Billy Downs and talked about ways that BD's could add incremental value to the race. They looked out the window of the restaurant and realized it was the ideal location for an extra incentive for the runners." BD's Mongolian Barbeque is the presenting sponsor of the BolderBOULDER Training Club this year, and a number of workouts and social events will take place at the Mongolian Barbeque on Pearl Street in Boulder, and at their 16th & Wazee location in Denver. BD's will offer Training Club members dinner specials and $1.00 beers at organized events. In addition to the prime and Training Club incentives, BD's Mongolian Barbeque will present each finisher of the BolderBOULDER (all 45,000+!) with a $10 coupon attached to their finisher certificates. This is BD's way of congratulating each person for their finish of the race, and to welcome them into the restaurant. "We think BD's Mongolian Barbeque is a great fit with the BolderBOULDER," concluded Cliff Bosley. "You personally pick your fresh ingredients, and therefore know exactly what is in your 'bowl'. It's a great place for people to go who are interested in healthy eating." Companies interested in discussing sponsorship of the event are encouraged to contact Trevor Rhodes at (303) 444-7223 x13 or trevor@bolderboulder.com.. About BolderBOULDER
