Athletics Canada Announces 2006 NACAC X-Country Team

February 27th 2006, OTTAWA - Athletics Canada announced today the team that will represent Canada at the 2006 NACAC (North America, Central America and Caribbean) Cross Country Championships in Clermont Florida on March 11th.  The athletes qualified by their placing at the 2005 Canadian Cross Country Championships.

Martin Goulet, Director of Endurance Programs, believes this event will play an important role in developing Canadian distance talent. “I applaud the initiative taken by NACAC to create this new international event for cross country running.  It is an excellent development opportunity and it is also possible to use this event to improve the quality and specificity of our athlete’s preparation toward the World Cross Country Championships competition.  This new event on Athletics Canada’s national team schedule can only help strengthen our middle distance and distance running programs.”
