Triathlon: “Best Of The US” Invites Hawaii’s Best To Race At The Lavaman Triathlon On April 2

(St. Paul, MN – 3/6/2006)–– “Best of the US” Management and the Hawaii Sports Connection invite the triathletes of the Aloha State to race at the 9rd annual LAVAMAN / BEST OF THE US HAWAII QUALIFIER at the Waikoloa Beach Resort on the Big Island’s Kohala Coast on April 2. This annual classic is billed as “The Best & Most Scenic Post Race Party in Triathlon!!!”

Hawaii was well-represented at the “Best of the US Championship” last year. Peter Hursty and Bree Wee, two of America’s most decorated amateur triathetes, cracked the top 10 in the Fastest State Competition, though neither athlete claimed to be in top form. Hursty finished 19th in the men’s race; Wee placed 7th among the women. Wee became pregnant while vacationing in New Hampshire after last year’s championship and will be unable to defend her Lavaman title and thus earn an invitation to the 2006 “Best of the US Championship” in Excelsior, MN on September 16. Though Wee will be missed, Hawaii can still be expected to send a strong team to the Minnesota. Among of the athletes we hope to see at Lavaman on April 2 are perennial Lavaman champ Hursty, Tai Blechta, Rachel Ross, Susan Burr and Marion Summerer.
