Athletics: HSBC Bank Canada Becomes Title Sponsor of Calgary Marathon

Calgary, February 20, 2006 – HSBC Bank Canada has gone the extra mile and is making a commitment to the Calgary Marathon Society (CMS) to be the Title Sponsor of the HSBC Calgary Marathon, beginning with the 2006 Marathon on Sunday, July 9.

Now known as the HSBC Calgary Marathon, CMS will continue to operate a world class Marathon offering a flat and fast marathon course in one of the most beautiful urban settings. The HSBC Calgary Marathon will attract both elite and recreational runners and walkers for the HSBC Calgary Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, Calgary Stampede 4x10K Corporate Challenge and the Timbits Marathon.

Since its inception in 1963, the HSBC Calgary Marathon has continually grown in both size and scope. The event has evolved from a small community event into one of Calgary’s premier running events. Attracting over 6,000 participants, this is one event not to be missed.

The Calgary Marathon Society, a non-profit organization, is a member of the Association of International Marathons and Road Races and has been in existence for 42 years.
