Posted: March 16, 2006 Athletics: Senior Heptathlon and Decathlon to take place at Junior Nationals in Sherbrooke March 16th 2006, OTTAWA - The Senior Heptathlon and Decathlon events will take place in conjunction with the junior combined events at the 2006 Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships in Sherbrooke, Québec July 21-23 at the Université of Sherbrooke Track. Jessica Zelinka is the reigning Canadian champion in the heptathlon. She earned her crown at the 2005 Canadian Track and Field Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba with a score of 5753 points. James Holder is the defending Canadian champion in the decathlon; Holder took the gold with a score of 7264 points at 2005 Nationals. The heptathlon consists of seven events: 100m Hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meters, long jump, javelin throw, and 800 metres. The decathlon is made up of ten events: 100 meters, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400 meters, 110 meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and 1500 metres.
