Posted: March 24, 2006 Triathlon: LifeSport Athletes, Coach - Lisa Bentley, Brent McMahon, Kyle Jones, Lance Watson - win 2005 National Triathlon Awards Congratulations to Lance Watson, Lisa Bentley, Brent McMahon and Kyle Jones for winning National Athlete/Coach of the Year Awards, as selected by Triathlon Canada. Brent McMahon started 2005 successfully by qualifying for the Commonwealth Games Team for Canada. Brent then went onto record numerous top finishes on the Xterra North American tour. He finished the year with a remarkable Bronze Medal at Xterra World Championships in Maui. Brent was selected Elite Off-Road Triathlete of the Year. In his first year out of Junior, 20 year old Kyle Jones placed 9th at World U23 Championships. Kyle also won Elite Nationals in Duathlon (Ottawa) and Sprint Triathlon (Halifax). Kyle was chosen U23 Triathlete and U23 Duathlete of the Year. Lisa Bentley won numerous races in 2005 including Ironman Australia and Germany. Lisa continues to be one of the dominant long distant triathletes in the world. Lisa was chosen Elite Long Distance Triathlete of the Year. Lance Watson has been selected 2005 Triathlon Canada Elite Coach of the Year. Lance has won this coveted award 5 of the past 6 seasons. In 2005 Lance guided Lisa Bentley and Chris Lieto to Ironman victories, Kim Loeffler to 8th place (top American) at the Hawaii Ironman, Laura Bennett to a Bronze Medal at World Olympic Distance Championships, and Brent McMahon to an Xterra World Championships Bronze Medal.
