Athletics: WSCR-AM The Score 670 To Broadcast The Lasalle Bank Chicago Marathon®

CHICAGO (March 30, 2006) – The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon welcomes Chicago sports radio leader WSCR-AM The Score 670 as its official radio broadcaster. As such, the station will broadcast live The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon and provide coverage of LaSalle Bank’s other premier sports events, namely The LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle® and LaSalle Bank Open®.

“It is with great pride that we bring the enthusiasm, depth and excitement of The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon to The Score’s listeners,” said Executive Race Director Carey Pinkowski. “With an elite field of international athletes competing for a portion of the $650,000 prize purse, 40,000 runners and over 1.5 million spectators, our Marathon is one of the top in the world. It is therefore fitting for us to align with the top sports radio station in the city that is as committed to competitive sports as we are”.

The two-year commitment with The Score will include day-of-event Marathon coverage along with four one-hour shows co-hosted by Pinkowski and Score talent in advance of the Marathon. These shows will be designed to help 40,000 runners and thousands of Marathon fans stay informed on news and information about the event. The shows will include elite athlete interviews, training tips from industry professionals, breaking news surrounding the Marathon and in-depth discussions regarding the sport of distance running.

“I’m thrilled to have The Score partnered with such great events as The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, LaSalle Bank Open and The LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle,” commented WSCR Program Director Mitch Rosen. “By adding coverage of these highly competitive events we further illustrate our commitment to all professional sports, especially local, hometown sporting events in Chicago.”

The 2006 LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon will feature 40,000 runners from around the globe including a field of elite athletes competing for a portion of $650,000, the highest prize purse currently available in the sport. Also associated with the Marathon is a two-day Health & Fitness Expo featuring more than 150 exhibitors that will take place on Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21 at McCormick Place. The Health & Fitness Expo is free and open to the public. Live local television coverage of the Marathon will be broadcast on CBS 2 CHICAGO.

In addition to serving as the official radio broadcaster of the Marathon, WSCR will be the radio home for news and coverage of LaSalle’s other premier sports events The LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle and LaSalle Bank Open. As the largest 8K in the world the Shamrock Shuffle attracts elite athletes and tens of thousands of spectators each April while the LaSalle Bank Open, which tees off at The Glen Club June 8-11, offers the largest prize purse on the Nationwide Tour.

WSCR-AM The Score 670 is a 50,000 watt Clear Channel station reaching 38 states and four Canadian provinces. In its 15th year, the station features local on-air personalities and serves as the radio home for the 2005 World Champion Chicago White Sox, Chicago Blackhawks, DePaul basketball and Northern Illinois University football and basketball.
