Posted: March 30, 2006 Athletics: Prague Half-Marathon Set For Saturday From David Monti © 2006 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com The 8th annual Prague Half-Marathon is slated for Saturday in the Czech capitol, and the organizers have assembled strong fields. Kenyan John Cheruiyot Korir, with a career best time of 1:00:47, will take on countrymen Joseph Ngeny (1:01:35), Stanley Salil (1:01:38), and Stephen Kibiwott (1:02:34), all going for Silas Kirui's course record of 1:01:07 set last year. The top home country entrant is veteran Robert Stefko (1:00:29 PB from 2000). Caroline Kwambai (1:09:45), Hellen Kimutai (1:09:59), and Susan Kurui (1:11:09) lead the Kenyan charge on the women's side of the race. Other top entrants include Simona Staicu of Hungary (1:10:10) and Jana Klimesova of the Czech Republic (1:13:52). The race features a very flat, loop course which loses a scant five meters of elevation. So, the course is eligible for record setting. |
