Athletics: 22nd Dam Tot Damloop Opens Registration
Start of the 2005 Dam Tot Damloop Race
Amsterdam/Zaandam (The Netherlands), 6 April 2006:
From 1 April the ‘runners world’ has the possibility to register for the Dam tot Damloop. Maximally 30,000 participants can take part in the biggest running event of The Netherlands, which will take place on Sunday 17 September 2006 from the city-centre of the Dutch capital Amsterdam to suburb Zaandam. Till 27 August 2006 or by reaching the participants limit registration is possible on www.damloop.nl. The organization incites everybody to register as soon as possible. Experience has shown the participants limit is getting reached every year in an earlier stage. Post-registration is not possible. The Dam tot Damloop is a point-to-point run over 10 or 4 English Miles with about 200,000 spectators and many bands and small orchestras who will enthusiastically encourage the participants along the way. The course is fast (course records: 44.45 minutes Paul Koech, Kenya (1997) and 50.31 minutes Ingrid Kristiansen, Norway (1987)) and will allow athletes to break their personal record. Among the thousands of recreational runners some top athletes of world performance will traditionally be present. The last edition the Kenyan athletes William Kipsang and Isabellah Ochichi had been greeted as proud winners.
