Posted: April 6, 2006 Triathlon: Bayliss and Comerford ride Kiwi storm into Ironman Arizona Post the winds and weather that forced Ironman New Zealand to be turned into a duathlon and saw Britain’s Stephen Bayliss and Bella Comerford finish 4th male and 7th female overall in Lake Taupo, New Zealand the pair have arrived in Arizona for this weekends Ironman Arizona. (April 9th, 2006 -7am start) Boosted by his Hawaii Ironman World Championship qualification in Hawaii Stephen is looking forward to proving himself over the full distance in front of his Timex Mutisport team mates. Comerford disappointed with 7th in New Zealand is feeling fantastic and feels like her running form is better than in a long time. She comments “I am really confidant about my running, since Ironman New Zealand I have been training on the track twice a week and this has really helped my running. I actually feel I am running close to what I was running when I ran 3 hours 9minutes at Florida in 2002.” Since being in Arizona Stephen and Bella have also raced a short aquathlon (2km swim-3km run) in which Stephen won and Bella came 3rd in the women’s race.
