The organizers of the BAA Boston Marathon, the first stop on the two-year World Marathon Majors series, released their media and spectator guide to the unique uniforms which will be worn by their invited men's field in next Monday's race.

"This year the top men in the 2006 Boston Marathon field will wear assigned uniforms to help the media and spectators readily identify the leaders during the race," said spokesman Josh Milne of John Hancock Financial Services, which funds the professional race.

The Flora London Marathon, the second stop in the series on April 23, was the first race to announce the unique uniform program last week. It's all part of an effort to make athletes more recognizable and build interest in the series which will award a total of USD 1 million to the top point-scoring man and woman ($500,000 each) when the series concludes with the 2007 ING New York City Marathon.

A copy of the guide is available at: BostonUniforms.pdf as a PDF file.
