Irvin 5K is closed and applications are no longer being accepted. The 1,200 participant limit for the 3.1-mile race was met with the acceptance of today’s mail. The William A. Irvin 5K is the first of three road races during Grandma's Marathon weekend beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17. The race starts and finishes near the permanently docked William A. Irvin ore boat in Canal Park. Along with the William A. Irvin 5K, the capacity limits for the 30th annual Grandma's Marathon and the 16th annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon have also been met. In all, over 16,000 runners are expected to participate in the three weekend races. While all races are full, there are plenty of other ways for people to get involved with the excitement of Grandma's Marathon weekend. Volunteer opportunities are plentiful for individuals, families and community service groups. For more information call Grandma's Marathon headquarters at (218) 727-0947. Comment on this story. |
