LONDON (23-Apr) -- Deena Kastor became the first-ever American woman to win the Flora London Marathon, and became the eighth woman ever to run sub-2:20, shattering her own American record. The Californian crossed the finish line in 2:19:35 (unofficial) in rainy and chilly conditions.

Coming from behind, Russian Ludmila Petrova finished second, with Susan Chepkemei third. Berhane Adere and Galina Bogomolova rounded out the top-5, all of them breaking 2:22.
