Athletics: Tyson Foods Gets on Course with USA Track & Field

INDIANAPOLIS - Tyson Foods, Inc. and USA Track & Field (USATF) today jointly announced Tyson Foods' sponsorship of USA Track & Field, which will extend through the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in Beijing, China. The announcement of the company as Official Protein Sponsor represents a natural evolution of a relationship that began seven years ago with Tyson Foods' involvement in the annual Tyson Invitational indoor track meet.

"We are excited to be part of this powerful sport that hinges on high-energy performances," said Bob Corscadden, Tyson Foods' senior vice president and chief marketing officer. "Protein, as part of a meal, increases power and strength. This partnership allows us to communicate the importance of protein and nutrition to millions of Americans in a powerful way."

Tyson Foods and its Protein Patrol will power the Visa Championship Series and USATF road races by distributing product samples and promotional items. Tyson Foods' support of the Visa Championship Series, USATF's signature series of televised indoor and outdoor track and field events, includes the Tyson Invitational, USA vs. The World at the Penn Relays, the Millrose Games, the AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships and USATF's Annual Meeting.

As part if its role at Visa Championship Series events, Tyson will be connecting local children's track and field clubs with top athletes at events throughout the season. The star performers of today will share training and lifestyle tips with the stand-outs of tomorrow, such as the importance of balancing a protein rich, well-balanced diet with physical activity.

"US Track & Field has enjoyed a tremendous working relationship with Tyson Foods for many years," said USATF CEO Craig Masback. "We are very pleased to formalize our relationship into one that will provide the kind of support that will power Team USA athletes to success through the 2008 Olympic Games."

As Official Protein Sponsor, Tyson Foods becomes a vital part of the growing USATF sponsor family that includes Nike, Visa, AT&T, 24-Hour Fitness, The Hershey Company and Gleukos.
