Posted: May 10, 2006 Athletics: Chief High Performance Officer Employment Opportunity with Athletics Canada Athletics Canada (AC) is the National Sport Organization for Athletics in Canada. Its purpose is to support high performance athletics excellence at the world level and to provide leadership in developmental athletics. Athletics Canada is a not-for-profit, charitable organization operating under a Board of Directors elected by provincial/territorial members. The Chief High Performance Officer (CHPO) is a full-time position encompassing responsibilities for the technical direction and leadership of all athlete and coach performance programs within the established policies and the Strategic Plan of Athletics Canada. The CHPO will report to the Chief Executive Officer for Athletics Canada. Responsibilities of this position include:
The ideal candidate must have knowledge of the amateur sporting system of Canada and of the programs of AC’s key sports partners. Ten or more years of progressive experience in amateur sport is required, including demonstrable success as an executive manager with excellent management, administrative, and financial skills. Strong consultative, facilitation and decision-making skills are required. This individual will possess vision, energy, enthusiasm and the desire to be both a team builder and team player. Bilingualism is an asset. Preference will be given to candidates willing to relocate to the Head Office in Ottawa. Salary for this position will commensurate with experience.
