They will address healthy lifestyles, keeping active, and living with integrity. They will answer questions from the students and lead them in reciting the "Be A Champion" pledge. A major initiative by USA Track & Field and the American College of Sports Medicine, "Be A Champion" facilitates direct interaction between Olympic medalists and middle-school aged children around the country in order to positively impact their lifestyles and decision-making. An Olympic heptathlete in 2004, Michelle Perry made the switch to the 100m hurdles and was the best in the world in 2005, culminating with her gold medal-winning performance at the World Outdoor Championships in Helsinki. The reigning Olympic and World champion at 400m, Jeremy Wariner became one of only eight men to ever run under 44 seconds in the 400 when he won the world title in 2005 with his time of 43.93. Wariner was also a member of the 4x400m relay squads that brought home the gold at the Olympics and the 2005 World Outdoor Championships. Former University of Southern California sprint star, Angela Williams, returns to her native state as a two-time World Indoor 60m silver medalist, three-time U.S. Junior 100m champion, and four-time NCAA 100m champion. An elder statesman of American sprinting, Jon Drummond, 37, ran lead-off leg on Team USA's gold medal-winning 4x100-meter relay team at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. He also was a 1996 Olympic silver medalist in the relay, and is a three-time world outdoor champion in the event (1993, '99, '01). Making youth outreach a priority, Drummond runs the "With Purpose" Foundation. The "Be A Champion" school visit is being held in conjunction with the 2006 adidas Track Classic, which will be held Sunday, May 21 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
