In receiving financial aid from the Canadian Athletes Now Fund it will allow me to purchase a new boat, which I must do to comply with the new International Canoe Federation boat design regulations. This funding will also aid in my ability to travel to international competitions and training camps.

I can’t tell you how thankful I am that the Canadian Athletes Now Fund exists. The Canadian Athletes Now Fund goes far beyond just the financial help, its impact will affect sport in this country in ways we can’t even imagine. Thank you for realizing the wonderful truth that sport inspires people, and that we can change the world.
~Kristina Groves – Speed Skating, Olympic Silver Medalist, CAN Fund Recipient,Ottawa Native

My financial restrictions have necessitated that I maintain a part-time job on the side of training, however last year I decided to really chase my dream and fully focus on training. I have taken out bank loans, left my part-time job, and decreased my schooling. These changes have led to drastic improvement in my training and performance. I am seeking funds from the Canadian Athletes Now Fund to help make my dream of representing Canada at the Olympic Games a reality.
~ Kristin Gauthier – Canoe – Kayak, Ottawa Native

The Canadian Athletes Now Fund has been a critical part of my sporting career, before the Olympics in Athens this Fund covered the costs that could not be covered by my federation and I was able to quit my job in the months leading up to the Olympics and concentrate fully on my sport. We earned a top four finish in team. So thank you for your generosity! This year I am seeking funding from the Canadian Athletes Now Fund so that I can continue to concentrate completely on my sport. I would be extremely grateful for any support you offer as I strive to move from one of the world’s best to the world’s best.
~Sherraine MacKay – Fencing, World Champion, CAN Fund Recipient, Ottawa Native
