First, introduced at the 2002 Life Time Fitness Triathlon, the event also features an innovative timing structure, which allows the world's top professional female and male triathletes to battle on equal ground for the first place prize -- a combined cash and prize purse valued at $200,000. "Toyota's decision to sign on again as presenting sponsor was an easy one." A 'Battle of the Sexes' in the Making Based upon past Life Time Fitness Triathlon course results, along with results from a number of international-distance events worldwide, the Life Time Fitness Triathlon's innovative timing structure allows the professional women to start ahead of the professional men by a predetermined amount of time, resulting in an exciting and dramatic race to the finish for the first-place $200,000 cash and prize purse. In addition to the professional division, more than 2,500 amateur triathletes from around the world are expected to participate.
