Triathlon: Storming to Wimbleball and the UK IRONMAN 70.3!

The UK IRONMAN 70.3 are excited to announce that the 2004 IRONMAN World Champion Normann Stadler will be signing autographs at the 2006 UK IRONMAN 70.3 race to be held at Wimbleball Lake on June 18th.

‘Storminn’ Normann who set the IRONMAN World Championship alight in 2004 with his stunning bike ride, broke the old IRONMAN mentality of ‘you can’t win it on the bike’ in spectacular fashion. Following a solid swim, the 7th fastest bike in IRONMAN World Championship history and a stellar sub 3 hour marathon, Normann became the 2nd German to win the title.

Stadler will be signing autographs at the TRI UK/PowerBar booth between 11-12pm on Saturday 17th June. Normann will also be available for a question and answer session. Dates and times for the interviews and Question and Answer session will be available through the UK IRONMAN 70.3 website as soon as possible.

So for a chance to meet one of the truly great IRONMAN athletes, head down to Wimbleball Lake on Saturday 17th June and do not miss this amazing opportunity.

Normann Stadler is a sponsored by sports nutrition giant, PowerBar, who are the nutrition sponsors of the worldwide series of IRONMAN races. They provide all the fuel that a World Champion, like Normann, needs to compete at his best, day in day out.

PowerBar products are essential equipment for top cyclists, runners and triathletes and their use soon spread to many other sports. Demand grew so much that today PowerBar products are distributed in over 35 countries and the PowerBar brand has become synonymous with nutrition, energy and optimum performance.

Wimbleball Lake, in the heart Of Exmoor National Park, will provide a stunning backdrop and highlight the beauty and nature of the UK. Ron Thorne says, “Each IRONMAN 70.3 race highlights the best about the area that it calls home. One of the reasons for choosing a location is the appeal to both foreign and domestic athletes. This race will certainly appeal to the International competitor looking to see the best that the UK has to offer”.

The new IRONMAN 70.3 Bike course will provide the sort of challenge that athletes are used to with IMUK courses: tough, technical and incredibly scenic. The spectator friendly IRONMAN 70.3 run course will be around Wimbleball Lake itself and gives spectators the chance to see the tired, but determined, athletes on numerous occasions.

Limited On-line entries are still available via www.ironmanuk.com. The UK IRONMAN 70.3 has 100 slots for the inaugural Ford IRONMAN World Championship in Clearwater, Florida on November 11, 2006.
