Posted: June 1, 2006 Athletics: IAAF Golden League 2006 Starts Tomorrow, Friday 2 June In Oslo, Norway Oslo, Norway - The official launch of the IAAF Golden League 2006 took place today 1300hrs (1100hrs GMT) at a press conference in the SAS Radisson Oslo Plaza Hotel. The venue is the meeting HQ of the ExxonMobil Bislett Games, the opening leg of the six meeting IAAF Golden League, which takes place tomorrow, Friday 2 June 2006, in Oslo’s famous Bislett stadium. The IAAF press conference which was opened with a short welcome from Svein Arne Hansen (NOR), the host meeting director, was hosted by Lamine Diack (SEN), IAAF President, along with Wilfried Meert (BEL), IAAF Golden League meetings spokesperson. They were joined by IAAF Ambassador Colin Jackson (GBR) and three of today’s star athletes: Kenenisa Bekele (ETH), 2004 and 2005 World Athlete of the Year, Kajsa Bergqvist (SWE), World High Jump champion, and Jeremy Wariner (USA), World and Olympic 400m champion.
