Athletics: ING Ottawa Marathon Finisher Wins 2006 Hyundai Accent

On Sunday, May 28, as he crossed the finish line, Jay Feyko had no idea that he would be going home with a brand new car! After all, just finishing meant a great deal to Jay for very personal reasons! Winning a car was the icing on the cake!

Jay Feyko, 33, served in Afghanistan with the Canadian Armed Forces, and returned home after being seriously injured in a suicide bomb attack. After his injury, running became a part of his recovery, with the ING Ottawa Marathon as his goal.

So, you can imagine his sheer surprise when he crossed the finish line (in 3:46:06) of his race to find Ottawa Race Weekend GM, Jim Robinson, waiting for him with the news he had won a new 2006 Hyundai Accent from Pathway Hyundai.

Feyko was randomly selected from all marathon and half marathon participants as the winner of the Run-to-Win Car Give-away.

Greg Stewart (R), president of Pathway Hyundai, presents Jeff Feyko (L) with the keys to a new Hyundai

Wednesday organizers of the ING Ottawa Marathon and Pathway Hyundai presented Jay with the keys to his new 2006 Hyundai Accent!

This is the first time in the 32-year history of the ING Ottawa Marathon that a non-elite runner has won a prize of this size.
