2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Graffiti Wall on display

A graffiti wall created by local artists with the look of the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, including likenesses of U.S. track and field stars Justin Gatlin, Lauryn Williams and Adam Nelson, is on display at the Indianapolis Artsgarden until Monday, June 19. The Indianapolis Artsgarden is located above the intersection of Washington and Illinois Streets in downtown Indianapolis.

The graffiti wall will be used as the awards ceremony backdrop at the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Carroll Stadium on the IUPUI campus June 21-25.

The AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are the concluding event of the 2006 Visa Championship Series. For more information, visit www.visachampionshipseries.com.

Free online video coverage for Nike Outdoor Nationals

Thanks to the Mile Split Network and Nike, viewers with internet access will be able to see the 2006 Nike Outdoor Nationals live at http://www.milesplit.com.

Free online video coverage of the Nike Outdoor Nationals will be provided June 15-17, 2006 from North Carolina AT&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Full-time students in grades 9-12 who are eligible for their high school team and who have met the entry guidelines, are eligible to compete at the Nike Outdoor Nationals. For more information, visit http://nikeoutdoor.nationalscholastic.org/index.php.

USATF hires two coordinators

Amanda Payne and Mandy Rost have joined the USATF national office staff in Indianapolis, as the High Performance Programs Coordinator and Marketing Coordinator, respectively.

Payne comes to USATF following a year long internship with the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis. She will coordinate USATF's coaching education program and will take on the responsibility for oversight of junior international teams, USATF's junior program, and junior national championships. Payne also will assist USATF Director of High Performance Duffy Mahoney with many aspects of the high performance, development, and sport science program. Payne received her undergraduate degree from Ithaca College in New York in Sports Management. She returned to Ithaca to earn her Masters in Business Administration.

Rost is a graduate of the University of Louisville where she earned her degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. She will coordinate sponsorship services with USATF sponsors such as Hershey, Nike, Tyson, and AT&T. She will also assist in new business development.

Buletti posts fastest 1-mile high school race walk

Heather Buletti of Westhampton Beach HS recorded the fastest 1 mile race walk ever for a high school girl Wednesday at the Eastern States Championships at JFK Bellmore HS in Bellmore, NY.

Buletti's winning time of 6 minutes 49.63 seconds betters the 2004 mark of Maria Michta (7:16.02) from Sachem HS by 26.39 seconds. She is the first U.S. girl to break the 7:00 barrier for the mile race walk. Runner-up Sara Meade of Pearl River HS finished in 8:09.95, 1:20.32 behind Buletti.
