Posted: June 23, 2006 Triathlon: triathlonschool holds Silent Auction to raise funds One year ago triathlonschool was founded by Olympic Gold Medallist Simon Whitfield, Canadian National Long Course team member Jasper Blake, and former Canadian National Elite team member Stefan Timms in response to the need for a novel approach to elite sport responsibility and funding in Canada. Specifically, the founding members of triathlonschool identified the untapped potential of elite athletes to act as positive community role models, promoting active lifestyles, physical fitness and fair play in our increasingly sedentary society. At the same time, based on their extensive experience at the highest levels of competition in the sport of triathlon, Simon, Jasper and Stefan identified the need to better support and mentor developing triathlon talent in Canada. Recognizing that these two issues were intimately related, Simon, Jasper and Stefan began working on a new sports model which ultimately became triathlonschool. Colin Jenkins and Kyle Jones were identified as two of the best and brightest young talents that Canada has to offer. In January of 2005 they were invited to join the triathlonschool team. Both Colin and Kyle are graduates of a successful Kids of Steel program, they were both Canadian Junior National Champions and are now competing at the Elite U23 category. One of triathlonschool's many goals is to assist these two young men financially as they pursue their Olympic dreams. Throughout the year the team organizes a number of fundraisers to help offset the costs associated with training full time as an elite triathlete. This past weekend the race organizer of the Muskoka Triathlon donated a number of great prizes to triathlonschool and we have decided to have an online silent auction. The auction is now underway and will run until Sunday June 25th. The proceeds of this auction will help Colin and Kyle compete in World Cups and ITU races around the world. Please check out the Auction Page to see all the wonderful prizes up for bid. We have a number of great golf and accommodation packages in the beautiful cottage country of Muskoka. We also have a bike frame from Felt, a 2006 Olympic Games Parade Jacket and some fastskin racing suits provided by Speedo. We hope you can take advantage of this great opportunity. To place a bid or for more information please visit www.triathlonschool.com. |
