Posted: June 30, 2006 Athletics: 1996 Olympic relay team reunites in Ottawa OTTAWA - Athletics Canada is proud to announce that for the first time in nearly half a decade the 1996 Olympic Gold Medal 4 x 100m Relay Team will be together again in conjunction with the 2006 Canadian Track and Field Championships. This summer marks the 10th anniversary of the Canadian Relay Teams' underdog victory at the Atlanta Olympic Games, as well as Donovan Bailey's 100m gold medal in what was then a world record time of 9.84 seconds. Carleton Chambers, Robert Esmie, Glenroy Gilbert, Bruny Surin, and Donovan Bailey will all converge on the nation's capital to celebrate one of Canada's greatest Olympic moments. The championships will also feature Canada's brightest track and field stars such as world-class hurdler Perdita Felicien, World Championship bronze medalist Tyler Christopher, Olympic high jumper Mark Boswell, and many more. The 2006 Canadian Track and Field Championships will take place at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility, in Ottawa, August 4th to 6th.
