Posted: June 30, 2006 Multisport: Brampton Nationals on TSN This weekend’s HSBC Triathlon National Championships will be broadcasted on TSN on 3 separate occasions later in July. Canada’s top triathletes will be participating in the National Championships July 2nd in Brampton, including defending champions Simon Whitfield and Samantha McGlone. Whitfield will be attempting to win his 6th National title – unprecedented in Olympic Distance racing. TSN will broadcast a 60 minute highlight show which will be aired for the first time on Sunday July 16th at 11:30am EDT. The second showing will take place a day later on Monday July 17th at 2:00pm EDT and the final broadcast is on Saturday July 22nd at 5:00am EDT. Triathlon Canada’s Executive Director, Alan Trivett, says it will be an exciting race with so many of our athletes having great seasons, “There’s a group of 4 or 5 athletes that will definitely give Simon and Samantha a run for their money. I expect both elite races to be close and this combined with the beautiful venue in Brampton should make for some dramatic television. I am thrilled to have one of our marquee events broadcasted across the country on TSN. If you can’t see the race live you have 3 more opportunities to watch a condensed version on TSN.” If you are interested in seeing the elite races live on Sunday July 2nd – they will take place in Brampton at Professor’s lake – the elite women go first at noon and the elite men start at 3pm EDT.
