Athletics: Yuengling New Title Sponsor of Shamrock Sportsfest

Three-year deal signed

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Shamrock Sportsfest, host of one of the country's oldest marathons, welcomes Yuengling, the country's oldest brewery, as its official 2007 title sponsor. Yuengling has signed on through 2009 and the partnership promises to be a strong one. The Sportsfest weekend will take place in Virginia Beach, March 16-18, 2007 and features marathon, half-marathon and 8K races as well as children's races.

"Yuengling has a long tradition of producing a quality product. Yuengling is a natural fit with the Shamrock Sportsfest, which is a premiere event in Hampton Roads area and attracts runners from around the world," says Kathrine Torrisi of ChesBay Distributing.

"We're excited to welcome Yuengling as our title sponsor through 2009," says Shamrock Race Director Amy Frostick. "Yuengling's participation will help us to ensure that our runners will have a festive race and St. Patrick's Day weekend."

Murphy's Irish Pub has also continued their finish line sponsorship for 2007 and will provide their warm Irish Stew after the races.

The 2007 Yuengling Shamrock Sportsfest will celebrate its 35th running of the marathon. The race also features the Shamrock Expo, which is one of the largest on the East Coast.
