Triathlon: Ohata and Glushchenko win in Holten

Mariana Ohata from Brazil and Andriy Glushchenko from Ukraine were the winners of the Holten ITU Premium European Cup Triathlon.

Following the swimming, a small lead group of four women formed, followed closely by another group of twelve. After three rounds of biking, these two groups joined together. In the final 10 km run Karen Sindall was fastest in the beginning. A group of Ewa Dederko (POL), Radova and Supinova (both from Czech Republic) followed her. Mariana Ohata came in six position at that time. In the second part of the run Ohata was the strongest and was able to pass everyobne. Dederko came on second and Radova in third position.

In the men’s competition Andrey Glouschenko and Doug Friman from USA were the first out of the swim with a clear lead. The rest of the filed followed them in a few seconds. On the bike Glouschenko and Friman was caught soon and a group of 12 athletes finished the bike together. On the run Glouschenko, Mark Jenkins from Great Britain, Erhard Wolfaardt from South Africa, the Belgian Frederik van Lierde and Doug Friman ran in the front. Some hundreds meters away from the finish, Glouschenko sprinted away from the rest of the filed. Wolfaardt was strong enough to finish second and Jenkins got the bronze two weeks after his fifth position in Kitzbuhel.
