Posted: July 21, 2006 Athletics: Jacques Sallberg Joins Team Running USA SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - (July 20, 2006) - Jacques Sallberg has joined Team Running USA, the professional athlete development group based in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. Last month, Sallberg, 31, finished fourth at the USA 3000 Meter Steeplechase Championship in 8 minutes, 28.18 seconds, a personal record by 6 seconds. The graduate of California State University, Los Angeles also placed 12th at the 2004 Olympic Trials 3000m Steeplechase. In addition, the Division II All-American has set PRs this year in the mile (4:01.50) and 5000m (13:52.62). "Jacques is an outstanding addition to Team Running USA," said Coach Bob Larsen. "He has been working with our training group since November 2003, and he is known as a dedicated athlete and a tough competitor. His recent performance at the USA Outdoor Championships impressed everybody and also inspired his teammates." Sallberg, a resident of Pasadena, Calif., becomes the 14th member of Team Running USA which includes 2004 Olympic medalists Deena Kastor and Meb Keflezighi, Olympians Jen Rhines, Gabe Jennings and Kate O'Neill, five-time national road champion Ryan Shay, 2006 USA 5000m champion Lauren Fleshman, 2006 USA 12K Cross Country champion Ryan Hall and Ian Dobson, Sara Hall, Missy Buttry, Alicia Craig and Laura O'Neill.
